At the e4m iDAC 2025, Sowmya Iyer, Founder and CEO of DViO Digital, delivered a compelling session titled “Rewiring the Agency DNA: How DViO Turned Agility and AI into Competitive Advantage.” In an industry where change is the only constant, Iyer challenged the very notion of comfort, calling “safe” the biggest illusion in business.
Reflecting on her own journey, she said agencies can no longer rely on the comfort of retainers, long-term clients, or loyal employees. The agencies that will thrive, she argued, are those that question the status quo and build for agility and adaptability. For decades, creativity, media, and production were the cornerstones of growth, but as brands increasingly demand accountability and outcomes, that equation has evolved into what Iyer describes as “outcome commerce.”
Under her leadership, DViO Digital has embraced this evolution. Today, the company operates in six countries with over 350 professionals, marking its transition from a service-led agency to a product- and platform-driven global ecosystem. Iyer recalled how, at a time when IT companies were the primary Indian exports, she questioned why a marketing and technology agency couldn’t expand internationally and DViO proved that it could.
A major factor behind that success has been the agency’s shift from being purely people-powered to being scaled by platforms, products, and solutions. “As agencies, we sit on rich insights across industries. If we platformize those insights, we create a network effect where intelligence compounds and everyone benefits,” she explained. The challenge, she noted, lies in moving away from billing by the hour to billing by outcomes, aligning business models with measurable results.
Another defining theme of her talk was AI’s transformative role. Describing it as “the greatest equalizer,” Iyer highlighted how technology has eroded the traditional hierarchy of titles, making talent and adaptability far more important than seniority. “It’s talent over titles now,” she said, noting that the ability to work intelligently with AI tools has become a decisive advantage.
To stay ahead of rapid shifts, DViO has built a deep innovation ecosystem by incubating and investing in over 18 startups across ad tech, martech, data analytics, and spatial technology. This cross-pollination between startups, clients, and markets has helped DViO maintain a startup’s agility while scaling globally.
Among its key innovations is DV1, an AI-powered marketing intelligence platform that unifies fragmented digital spending across Google, Meta, marketplaces, and CRM systems. The platform consolidates data, provides actionable AI insights, and even allows brands to “chat with their data” to identify performance patterns and optimize campaigns.
DViO also developed Answers Engine Optimization (AEO), a new-age framework that helps brands enhance discoverability within AI-driven search tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity. In parallel, its Mesh AI practice supports brands in embedding AI and automation within their internal processes, driving efficiency beyond marketing.
From a traditional agency to a growth partner, DViO’s transformation reflects its commitment to measurable outcomes and data-driven creativity. Internally, this mindset is reinforced through “Tomorrow,” a daily ritual where all 300 employees spend an hour exploring new AI tools and sharing applications for client solutions. The agency currently works with over 60 AI-powered platforms across markets.
Concluding her talk, Iyer summed up DViO’s ethos with clarity and conviction: “We build for tomorrow’s relevance, not yesterday’s safety. Independence, for us, isn’t about being small, it’s about being sovereign in thought, fast in action, and limitless in imagination.”
