Ad Club Madras kicks of Madras Week Celebrations with launch of Ad Ventures

Coinciding with the Madras Week Celebrations and as part of its Gyan series, Advertising Club Madras has launched Ad Ventures, a book authored by Dr T Nagarajan , Past President of the Club and who worked in JWT Chennai with R K Swamy, who during that period set up the office of JWT in Madras.

N Murali, Chairman, Kasturi & Sons, released the book and the first copy was received by Srinivasan K Swamy, Chairman RK Swamy Hansa. World President IAA Dr Nagarajan also handed over copies to R V Rajan, Past President of Advertising Club Madras and MM Charly, President Advertising Club Madras.

MM Charly, President, Advertising Club Madras, in his welcome address said the Club was very happy and proud to honour Dr T Nagarajan who was also a Past President of the Club. He mentioned that launching the book closer to the Madras Week celebrations makes it more topical and relevant.

Speaking on the occasion, N Murali recounted how the book captures the best campaigns during that period and how R K Swamy and his team changed advertising industry's outlook in Madras. The book he remarked was truly anecdotal, analytical just like the author who he said was a man of many talents.

Srinivasan K Swamy in his remarks said that the book has some amazing case studies which throw light on how R K Swamy approached the practice of advertising in Madras and also reflects on how the opening up of JWT in Madras spawned the growth of other allied industries like Photography, Printing, and Modelling etc

R V Rajan in his speech recollected his association with Nagarajan and shared his experiences of his interactions with him on various research projects.







Nagarajan in his acceptance speech expressed his sincere gratitude to the Advertising Club Madras for providing him the perfect platform to launch his book and getting together an elite panel to release the book. He recounted his association with R K Swamy and how during that period it was really a Golden Era for Advertising in Madras. With many firsts like getting PSUs to advertise, R K Swamy truly changed the landscape of advertising in Chennai and he said that the case studies featured takes us back to the good old times and how vividly he remembers them.

He also thanked CRE -A : publishers for publishing the book and expressed his gratitude.

Jagannath Ramasamy, Past President of the Club, delivered the Vote of Thanks.
