With IPL 2020 picking up pace, this week has turned out to be a happening one with several analytical pieces, campaigns, brand endorsements and other news related to the cricketing world.

Among other news in the marketing and advertising industry, Anupriya Acharya was named President of AAAI, while Prasanth Kumar took over as Vice President of the association. Other elected members to the executive committee include Anand Bhadkamkar, Kunal Lalani, Mohit Joshi, Pranav Premnarayen, Rana Barua and Vivek Srivastava.

With the Bollywood drug scandal making headlines, we also explored if the issue was going to affect the celebrity endorsement landscape. Industry observers say that the drug abuse allegations are most likely to impact the brand endorsement earnings and value of those named in it.

Meanwhile, Disney+ Hotstar VIP and WhiteHat Jr entered the top 10 brands list in Week 37, as per BARC ratings. As per the weekly data, advertisers witnessed a drop of 1.99% in total insertions whereas brands saw a 25% drop.

In other big news, The Advertising Club has refunded entry fees taken for Abby 2020. The Club and AAAI have unanimously decided to pause the awards for a year due to the pandemic and return the sum of Rs 1.4 crore received through submissions.

In other people's movements, LinkedIn’s Puneet Nagpal has joined Coursera as Customer Marketing Lead – APAC. At LinkedIn, Nagpal was leading Sales & Marketing Solutions – India.

Print media saw Vinay Kamat stepping down as Editor of Mint. Kamat is currently serving his notice period and will be with the organisation till October 2020.
