- Meta has appointed Tucker Bounds as the new head of global communications and public affairs, succeeding David Ginsberg, who will transition to a product-focused role in AI.
- Bounds, previously responsible for communications for CEO Mark Zuckerberg, will oversee corporate, product, internal, and CEO communications amid a changing technology and regulatory landscape.
- Ginsberg, who has been with Meta since 2017, will become Vice President of Product, Insights Innovation, focusing on integrating AI into user research and product development.
- This leadership change aligns with Meta's increased emphasis on artificial intelligence, as demonstrated by recent product launches and the establishment of the Meta Enterprise Platform.
Meta has elevated longtime executive Tucker Bounds to lead its global communications and public affairs function, succeeding David Ginsberg, who is moving into a new AI-focused product role, according to an internal staff memo reported by Axios.
Bounds, who most recently led communications for Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, will oversee the company’s broader communications mandate, including corporate, product, internal and CEO communications. His expanded remit comes as Meta continues to navigate a rapidly changing technology and regulatory environment, with AI, platform safety and public policy becoming increasingly central to the company’s external narrative.
Ginsberg, who has been with Meta since 2017, will transition to the role of Vice President, Product, Insights Innovation. In the new position, he will work with Meta Chief Data Officer Alex Schultz on applying AI to user research and product development, according to reports.
The leadership change marks a significant shift for Meta’s communications function. Bounds has been part of the company’s communications leadership for several years and previously took on the responsibility of building Meta’s global public affairs team in 2022, when Ginsberg was elevated to lead global communications and public affairs.
The latest move comes at a time when Meta is significantly expanding its focus on artificial intelligence. In September 2026, the company launched Muse, its personal AI agent, and has continued to expand its AI glasses portfolio. Meta has also announced the Meta Enterprise Platform, positioning its AI capabilities for businesses and developers.
For Bounds, the new role places communications and public affairs under a single leadership mandate at a time when Meta’s product expansion and policy conversations are increasingly interconnected. The company’s own policy framework notes that its public policy engagement involves coordination across public policy, communications and legal teams, reflecting the increasingly cross-functional nature of the function.
