Zee Media Corporation Limited has decided to reappoint Swetha Gopalan as the company's Independent Director. The company's board approved her reappointment at its meeting held on May 18, 2026. Subject to shareholder approval, Swetha Gopalan will serve as an independent director for a further five years, from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2031.
The company informed the stock exchanges that Swetha Gopalan's current term expires on July 31, 2026. It has been proposed to reappoint her for a second term thereafter. The company's board also noted that there is no restriction on Swetha Gopalan holding the position of director by SEBI or any other authority.
Swetha Gopalan also boasts a strong educational background. She holds a B.Tech in Industrial Biotechnology from Anna University. She also holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management in the United States and a certification in Quantitative Finance.
She began her career in 2010 at Johns Hopkins Medicine International, USA. She has since worked with companies such as Parkway Health Singapore, Noble Group Singapore, and Tata Consultancy Services USA. Zee Media said her experience will benefit the company going forward.
