  • Penta co-founder Matt McDonald will remain on the board and assist O’Leary during the transition; O’Leary has over 15 years of experience from Edelman and has also worked at Honeywell and Burson-Marsteller.

Jim O’Leary has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of corporate advisory firm Penta Group, following his departure from Weber Shandwick.

Announcing the move on LinkedIn, O’Leary said: “Big news today: I'm excited to join Penta Group as CEO! The corporate advisory firm built for the next decade looks fundamentally different from the one built for the last. If you were to draw a next generation advisory firm from a clean sheet for what's coming, it would look exactly like Penta.”

O’Leary will assume the role this summer. Penta co-founder and current chief executive Matt McDonald will remain on the firm’s board and work closely with O’Leary during the transition.

O’Leary joined Weber Shandwick in 2023, where he held the dual roles of North America CEO and Global President. Prior to that, he spent more than 15 years at Edelman. Earlier in his career, he also held roles at Honeywell and Burson-Marsteller.
