Walmart names John Furner as President and CEO

Walmart Inc. has announced that John Furner will succeed Doug McMillon as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 1 February 2026.
Furner, who currently serves as President and CEO of Walmart U.S., has been credited with driving growth and innovation, enhancing associate engagement, and leveraging technology to improve both the shopping experience and employee operations. Prior to leading Walmart U.S., he was President and CEO of Sam’s Club U.S.
Furner began his career with Walmart in 1993 as an hourly associate at Store 100 in Bentonville, Arkansas, and has held a variety of leadership roles across the company over the past three decades.
Beyond Walmart, Furner serves on the board of the National Retail Federation and was chairman from 2022 to 2025.
