OpenAI, the parent of ChatGPT, has appointed Akash Iyer as its Social Lead for India. The news was shared by Iyer on his LinkedIn profile. Iyer was earlier with Netflix, where he was the Film and Series Marketing Manager.
“This is a meaningful moment for me: Im joining OpenAI as Social Lead for the India team. It’s an incredible opportunity. But more than that, it’s a deep responsibility to be able to contribute to the mission of building AGI for the benefit of humanity,” Iyer wrote in a post.
Iyer has in the past worked with SportsKeeda, The Glitch, Buzzfeed and RR Donnelley.
The news of Iyer’s appointment comes just a week after OpenAI announced its intention to create its first office in India, deciding to base its growth in New Delhi. In an effort to fortify ties with the government, corporations, developers, and educational institutions, the ChatGPT creator has also formally established an entity in the nation and begun employing a local staff, the company had said.
