  • JK Patel has been appointed as Head of Marketing at WLDD, transitioning from Kinnect after nearly seven years with the agency.
  • Patel aims to enhance WLDD's reputation in line with the company's rapid growth and highlighted the creative team and culture as key factors for his move.
  • His career at Kinnect included various roles, culminating in his position as Senior Creative Director - Marketing before his departure.
  • WLDD, founded in 2018, has expanded from meme marketing to include creator marketing, content distribution, and production, and recently acquired ScoopWhoop while securing investments from Adfactors PR and Vikas Khemani.

JK Patel has joined WLDD as Head of Marketing, moving from Kinnect after nearly seven years at the agency.

Patel announced the move on LinkedIn, describing his brief as making sure WLDD's reputation keeps pace with the "insane speed" at which the company is scaling. He also pointed to the creative team and culture being built at WLDD as reasons for the switch.

Patel joined Kinnect as a Creative Visualiser in October 2019. He moved up to Associate Director - Marketing, in July 2021, became Associate Creative Director - Marketing, in January 2022, and was promoted to Creative Director - Marketing, in April 2023. A year later, he was elevated to Senior Creative Director - Marketing, a position he held until July 2026.

Before Kinnect, he was a partner at Jk Spective from August 2017 to October 2019. Earlier, he worked as a freelance Motion Graphic Artist in Mumbai from June 2014 to August 2017.

WLDD was founded in 2018 by college friends Arihant Jain, Vivekanand Kilari, and Jaidev Kesti, and began as a meme marketing firm. It has since widened into creator marketing, content distribution, production and brand design, with businesses including Solo, its creator platform, Meme'd, which makes short-form content, Crunchy Studios, its production arm, and Imagined Studio, its brand and product design business.

Patel's appointment comes weeks after Adfactors PR and investor Vikas Khemani, founder and CIO of Carnelian Asset Management and Advisors, acquired a stake in WLDD. The round followed its 2023 seed funding led by Negen Capital. Adfactors PR CEO Nijay N Nair will join the WLDD board. WLDD has also expanded its media portfolio through the acquisition of ScoopWhoop.
