Anthropic has appointed Irina Ghose as its Managing Director for India, marking a key step as the company prepares to launch its first office in the country. Ghose brings more than three decades of experience in growing and leading technology organisations.
Before joining Anthropic, she served as Managing Director at Microsoft India, where she played an important role in advancing the use of artificial intelligence across sectors including banking and financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and government. Throughout her career, she has focused on building strong teams, developing partner networks, and encouraging digital skills to support both business growth and broader social progress.
Commenting on her appointment, Ghose said India is well positioned to influence how AI is developed and used at scale. She noted that many Indian organisations are moving beyond pilot projects to real-world AI applications, where trust, safety, and long-term benefits are just as important as innovation. She added that Anthropic’s purpose aligns closely with her belief that technology should be inclusive and deliver meaningful value across India’s many languages and communities.
Chris Ciauri, Managing Director – International at Anthropic, said Ghose’s background in scaling technology businesses and leading enterprise transformation makes her well suited to guide the company’s expansion in India. He added that as Anthropic builds its presence across both public and private sectors, her leadership will help ensure a locally informed approach that reflects the company’s core values.
Anthropic’s India team will collaborate with policymakers and academic institutions, engage closely with the developer community, and form partnerships with organisations using AI to solve challenges specific to the Indian market.
