  • Hindustan National Glass & Industries Limited (HNGIL) has appointed Rakesh Mehta as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the North region, effective immediately, following its acquisition by Independent Sugar Corporation Limited in September 2025.
  • Mehta will oversee manufacturing facilities in northern India, focusing on improving supply chain efficiency and production performance across sectors such as pharmaceuticals, liquor, beverages, and food.
  • With over 20 years of experience, Mehta previously served as Finance Head – North at Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited and has a background in distribution and logistics at Reliance Retail.

Hindustan National Glass & Industries Limited (HNGIL) has announced the appointment of Rakesh Mehta as Chief Operating Officer (COO), North, with immediate effect. The leadership move comes soon after HNGIL’s acquisition by Independent Sugar Corporation Limited (INSCO), part of the Uganda-based Madhvani Group, completed in September 2025.
 
The appointment reflects HNGIL’s post-acquisition focus on strengthening operations and accelerating growth in northern India. In his new role, Mehta will be responsible for overseeing manufacturing facilities across the region, with an emphasis on improving supply chain efficiency, enhancing production performance, and supporting business growth across key sectors such as pharmaceuticals, liquor, beverages, and food.
 
Rakesh Mehta brings more than 20 years of experience across finance, commercial operations, contracts, and regional leadership roles. Before joining HNGIL, he served as Finance Head – North at Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, a position he held since 2013. He has also worked with Reliance Retail, where he handled distribution, logistics, and operational responsibilities across Gurugram and other northern markets.
 
Commenting on the appointment, Suraj Mehta, Chief Strategy & Corporate Affairs Officer at HNGIL, said the company is pleased to welcome Rakesh Mehta during this important phase following the acquisition. He added that Mehta’s strong operational understanding and strategic approach will further reinforce HNGIL’s presence and performance in the northern region.
