Babita Baruah is not moving on from her current role as CEO of VML India. In an interaction with IMPACT, Baruah reacted to the recent reports on her exit saying, "This is absolute maliciousness, and untrue. I vehemently deny this."

Baruah took charge on 01 March, 2024, following WPP’s integration of Wunderman Thompson and VMLY&R to form VML. Her appointment came as part of the global restructuring that brought together creative, data, and technology capabilities under a unified agency model.

Her continuation in the role comes amid broader leadership changes within WPP’s creative business.

Baruah started as a management trainee at Wunderman Thompson (JWT) in 1996, later holding key roles including Managing Partner at GTB India and Executive Director at VMLY&R Thailand.

As of 7 May 2026, there is no word on any movement or Baruah's exit from the CEO role at VML India.
