Vivek Srivastava will take on the role of overseeing Hindi Specials for Streaming as part of the newly formed JioStar team. He will report to Alok Jain, who will head the entertainment cluster for the Reliance-Disney joint venture.

Before the joint venture, Srivastava was EVP and Business Head at JioCinema Hindi Entertainment. Announcing the update on LinkedIn, he had said at the time, “Exactly 10 years later, I’m thrilled to return to the company that shaped my professional journey.”

“Stepping into the role of EVP and Business Head – Jio Cinema Hindi Entertainment at Viacom18, joining a team that thrives on creativity, innovation, and a passion for delivering exceptional content,” he had added in his update.

Prior to joining JioCinema, Srivastava was the Head - Growth & Business Management at Prime Video, an integral part of Amazon’s team in India. He has also held key positions at the Times Network, Viacom18 Media Private Limited and TAM Media Research.

Srivastava’s appointment is part of a team reshuffle following the recent joint venture between Reliance Industries Limited, Viacom18 Media, and The Walt Disney Company. Finalized on November 14, this joint venture represents a major turning point in India’s media and entertainment industry. Controlled by Reliance Industries Limited with a 56% stake, the joint venture merges Viacom18’s and JioCinema's media assets with Star India to create a media conglomerate worth approximately Rs 70,352 crore (US$8.5 billion).

The newly formed joint venture, which includes investments worth Rs 11,500 crore (US$1.4 billion) by Reliance Industries Limited, is one of the largest entities in India. Combining the strengths of Star, Colors, JioCinema and Hotstar, it will operate 100 TV channels and produce more than 30,000 hours of content annually. The combined digital subscriber base of the joint venture is over 50 million.
