Senior journalist, editor, and popular anchor Chitra Tripathi, who recently stepped down from her role as Editor, Special Projects at Aaj Tak, is reportedly set to rejoin ABP News. Tripathi is expected to anchor the 9 PM prime time slot, positioning her as the network's new prime-time face.
She is expected to get the role of the Managing Editor and related responsibilities.
Known for her impactful political anchoring and in-depth reporting, Chitra Tripathi previously earned accolades during her tenure at ABP News, including the ‘Best Reporter Award’ for her coverage of the Siachen conflict. She has hosted well-known programs such as 2019 Kaun Jeetega, Press Conference, and Kaun Banega Mukhyamantri. With a career spanning top networks, including India News and Sahara Samay, she has earned widespread respect for her ability to connect with audiences on critical political issues.
Her potential return to ABP is seen as a significant development for the network, particularly as they seek to bolster their prime-time programming. With her extensive experience at leading news outlets and her strong on-screen presence, Tripathi's return is expected to enhance the channel's competitive positioning.
Additionally, Tripathi's return comes with an enhanced remuneration package, reportedly almost double what she was receiving at Aaj Tak. It remains to be seen how this editorial shift, under the new leadership of Rajnish Ahuja, will impact ABP News’ viewership and ratings following her anticipated return.
