Senior journalist and news anchor Sushant Sinha celebrates his birthday today. Over a career spanning more than two decades, Sinha has emerged as one of the most recognisable faces of Hindi television news, known for combining sharp questioning with detailed research and accessible storytelling.
Sinha began his professional journey with Jain TV in 2002. He subsequently worked with several prominent news organisations, including Live India, News24, NDTV India, India News and India TV. Across these assignments, he anchored and produced programmes that covered politics, governance and issues of national importance.
His career entered a defining phase during his tenure at Times Now Navbharat, where he served as Consulting Editor and News Anchor. Through programmes such as News Ki Pathshala and Rashtragarv, Sinha developed an explainer-led format that sought to take viewers beyond headlines and provide the history, data and context behind major developments.
In June 2026, Sinha joined News18 India, beginning a new chapter in his broadcast journey. He currently anchors the channel’s flagship prime-time programme, Desh Ki Pathshala, which airs daily at 8:50 pm across television, connected TV and YouTube. The programme uses maps, timelines, data and visual explainers to simplify complex national and international issues.
Speaking to exchange4media after the launch of the programme, Sinha described content, connect and credibility as the three pillars of the Pathshala format. He also underlined the growing need for context in an age when audiences have access to an abundance of information but often struggle to understand the larger story behind it.
Beyond television, Sinha has built a significant digital presence through YouTube and social media. His ability to communicate directly with viewers has helped him build an audience that follows his work across platforms, reflecting the increasingly hybrid nature of contemporary news consumption.
What distinguishes Sinha’s work is his emphasis on explanation. At a time when television news is frequently dominated by competing voices and fast-moving debates, his programmes attempt to slow down the news cycle, connect the dots and make complex subjects easier for viewers to understand.
