Senior television journalist and Managing Editor of NDTV India, Akhilesh Sharma, has completed 23 years with the news channel. To mark the milestone, Sharma shared a photo from the channel’s office on social media, expressing his heartfelt thanks to the team and the organisation.

In his post, he described his tenure not merely as a job but as a journey filled with stories, experiences, and a team he considers family. The post highlights not just a personal achievement, but also the trust and consistency that are increasingly rare in today’s fast-evolving media landscape.

In his message, Sharma referred to the NDTV team as “family,” underscoring his leadership approach, where the organisation is more than a workplace.

As Managing Editor, Sharma not only sets the editorial direction of NDTV but also serves as a mentor to young journalists. His reporting prioritises accuracy, balance, and credibility, hallmarks of his journalism.

With over three decades of experience, Sharma has a strong command over politics, governance, parliament, and national affairs. Before joining NDTV, he worked for nearly three years as a Desk Editor with BBC World Service in London.

Earlier in his career, Sharma served as Special Correspondent at Aaj Tak, Correspondent at BBC Hindi TV, Reporter at TVI, and also spent time at Dainik Bhaskar’s Delhi bureau. He began his journalism career in 1994 after completing a diploma in journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) and also holds a journalism diploma from Cardiff University, UK.
