Business Line to foray into Gujarat with its 17th edition

The Hindu Group of Publications is foraying into Gujarat with the launch of its business daily Business Line in Ahmedabad on May 25, 2013. The Ahmedabad edition of Business Line will be the 17th edition of the paper and will also cater to cities such as Surat, Baroda, Rajkot and Jamnagar, among others.

Business line is already present in markets such as Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, among others.

Talking to exchange4media on the latest foray, Arun Anant, CEO, Kasturi & Sons said, “Gujarat is an important region for business. We have been serving this market from Mumbai for long. With the edition from Ahmedabad, we hope to cater to the Gujarati readers’ information needs better.”

The objective of foraying into the Gujarat market is to be present in all the major metros. Gujarat being an industrialist state, Business Line wants to have a deeper penetration among the population. The newspaper saw a vacuum and the launch is seen to fill the void.

Commenting on the competition from other existing players, Suresh Srinivasan, Vice-President, The Hindu said, “Business Line has been distinctive with its hallmark quality coverage in business and industry. Its coverage on wealth and investment management is vastly superior as compared to other publications and will resonate well with the business community in Gujarat. Besides, no other business paper covers commodities and agriculture as well as Business Line, which are also our strength areas and should connect well with the local business community. Moreover, Business Line is a premium quality product that offers great value for money. Being a popular business daily in other markets, it is bound to engage and connect well here too.”

The cover price of Business Line’s Ahmedabad edition has been kept at the same level of that in other cities – Rs 4 on weekdays and Rs 5 on Sundays. The paper will be published on all seven days of the week. The initial print run is expected to be around 8,500 copies.

The Ahmedabad edition will be launched by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. The launch event will be telecast jointly by The Hindu’s business TV channel partner and supported by some outdoor promos.

The paper will be promoted via radio and outdoor mediums. The advertiser profile for Business Line’s Ahmedabad edition includes BFSIs, PSUs and SMEs.
