What can I write about Dr Bhaskar Das our loving BD?
I got to know him very closely during my association with him at Republic TV ahead and during the troubled Covid times, met him a couple of times at Republic's Mumbai office, during my tenure with Dainik Bhaskar too. He was there at DNA Mumbai, but we definitely interacted much more and almost on daily basis during our innings at Republic TV. I had heard great things about him from industry colleagues of his great "Times of India" days, but knowing personally anyone is always a different experience.
BD, as we all called him was a marketing maverick. He never focused on the output of a call, but in the several online calls I attended with him along with MDs CEOs etc of several pan India companies, 2019, 2020, 2021 period. He used to charm just all of them with his first conduct, with his first conversation.
"MAVERICK" is the true word for him. In almost every call, he used to win the person opposite to the chair over, 15 minutes first conversation. That was the power of his words. That was the power of his knowledge and articulation. He was a born communicator and knew the art of winning the other side over with his overall conduct.
What sense of humour he carried right through his innings! No dialogue was boring at all. Even during a marketing and revenue led task, which must yield some good chunk of revenue for the company, the person opposite to him never felt that he is selling anything. He always enjoyed the dialogue and the advertising sales revenues were outcome of that.
Long live the spirit of Dr Bhaskar Das.
