Danish Khan, Business Head, Digital Business, StudioNEXT and Network Channels Licensing at Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), recently celebrated his birthday.
Widely regarded as one of India’s most accomplished media professionals, Khan has played a pivotal role in shaping SPNI’s digital and creative strategy, driving its evolution into a leading force in the entertainment industry.
At the helm of Sony LIV, StudioNEXT and Network Channels Licensing, Khan has steered the overall business of the three verticals with a strong focus on growth, innovation, and viewership expansion. Under his leadership,
Sony LIV underwent a major transformation with the launch of its revamped OTT platform in May 2020. The platform’s diverse and powerful content slate, featuring titles such as Avrodh, Your Honor, Undekhi, and the hugely successful Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, helped it attract millions of subscribers within a short span of time.
Beyond digital transformation, Khan’s contributions span the full spectrum of television and content creation. He has been instrumental in reviving marquee properties like Kaun Banega Crorepati, Indian Idol, and The Kapil Sharma Show, which continue to be recognized as some of India’s most iconic entertainment brands. He has also created hit reality formats like Super Dancer and Superstar Singer, showcasing his sharp instinct for audience engagement and talent-led storytelling.
Khan’s earlier stints include serving as Programming Head of Star Plus, where he was credited with building landmark shows such as Mahabharat and Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. Before joining Star India, he served as Marketing Head of Sony Entertainment Television, marking his first association with SPNI.
A sociology graduate with a postgraduate degree in management, Danish Khan brings over two decades of experience in advertising and broadcasting. Known for balancing creativity with strategy, he remains an influential voice in India’s media ecosystem. Away from work, he is an avid reader who enjoys music, movies, soccer, and travel and is known among peers as a passionate foodie.
