Netflix has teamed up with Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma ahead of the release of Stranger Things Season 5 Vol. 2, bringing together a globally popular series and one of India’s most widely recognised sports figures.

The collaboration centres on a short video released by Netflix India, featuring Sharma in a cricket team setting while referencing elements from the Stranger Things universe. The film draws parallels between match preparation and the show’s central conflict, using cricketing terminology alongside familiar characters and antagonists from the series. Netflix has clarified that Sharma is not part of the show’s storyline and that his involvement is limited to this India-led campaign ahead of the final season’s release.

Commenting on the collaboration, Rohit Sharma said, “I’ve been binge-watching Stranger Things for years, so this was a fun crossover for me. The idea of mixing cricket strategy with the world of Hawkins was something I instantly connected with.”

In the video, he is also heard saying, “Vecna ki fielding toh set kar di hai,” drawing a playful comparison between setting a cricket field and preparing for the Upside Down.

The video quickly garnered reactions across social media platforms. One user wrote, “This is such an unexpected crossover—cricket meets the Upside Down.” Another post read, “Rohit Sharma talking about Vecna wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card.”

Several viewers appreciated the tone of the video, describing it as “simple and fun” rather than over-the-top, while also praising Sharma’s acting skills, with one comment noting, “After cricket, acting ki fielding set hai.”

As Stranger Things approaches its final episodes, the association with Rohit Sharma highlights how global series are increasingly finding local touchpoints to mark significant moments. While the crossover remains entirely separate from the show’s narrative, it introduces a familiar voice into the conversation around its conclusion, positioning the final season as an event to be acknowledged, discussed, and shared, as the series prepares to bid farewell after years in the spotlight.
