India rises as ‘Most Preferred Manufacturer’ searched globally on the Internet: Study

‘Made in India’ was followed by keywords ‘Made in China’, ‘Made in Italy’ and ‘Made in Mexico’ with average monthly search volumes of 140K, 88K and 48K, shows SEMrush study

India has risen as the ‘Most Preferred Manufacturer’ searched globally on the Internet, as revealed in the latest global study conducted by SEMrush, an online visibility management and content marketing SaaS platform. 

The keyword ‘Made in India’ registered a global average monthly search volume of 269K in 2018. The study signified that India has become the most sought-after manufacturer beating China in the race. In the trend observed by SEMrush, ‘Made in India’ was followed by keywords ‘Made in China’, ‘Made in Italy’ and ‘Made in Mexico’ with an average monthly search volumes of 140K, 88K and 48K respectively.    

The detailed global survey conducted by SEMrush revealed that online trends have greatly changed in favour of India between 2016 and 2018. ‘Made in India’ has gained great prominence in 3 years, reaching from an average monthly search volume of 20K in 2016, and 29.5K in 2017 to a whopping 269K in 2018. India surpassed China, which had ruled the global search for 2016 and 2017 with search volumes of 135K and 140K respectively. The other prominent countries taking the lead in ‘Made in…’ study are Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Japan and France.  

Commenting on the ‘Made in India’ study, Rohan Ayyar, Regional Marketing Manager India, SEMrush said, “India, as one of the fastest developing nations, has also marked a new achievement by emerging as the most sought-after manufacturing nation on global search platforms. The public-private partnership development model and technological transformations have helped India become a world leader. 2018 was marked with ‘Made in India’ outshining the dominance on China in this segment.”

“Along with the world’s fastest growth rate of 8.2 per cent for the first quarter of 2018-19, India has also marked victory online with the most searches on popular platforms. This phenomenal growth has paved the path for a bright future of the Indian economy and we are expecting a greater rise in the demand for Indian products and services in the coming years,” Ayyar added.
