It’s not just audiences who seem to be caught up in the wave of Dhurandhar 2, even the IPL team Mumbai Indians has joined in.

After MI sealed a thrilling six-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium, the celebrations took a filmy twist. In a video shared by the franchise, Nita Ambani is seen pinning a special badge on star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, warmly calling him “Boom Boom Bumrah” for his match-defining moments.

As teammates cheer and the mood is already electric, captain Suryakumar Yadav steps in with the now-viral line from Dhurandhar: The Revenge - “Ghar ki yaad nahi aayi tujhe, Jassi?”

The entire dressing room bursts into laughter. Bumrah himself cracks a smile, and even Nita Ambani couldn’t hold back.

Mumbai Indians had already leaned into the trend. In a pre-match promotional clip, announcing Bumrah’s return back into the team, he was given a filmy welcome as their very own “Dhurandhar”.

In the clip, he was standing at a sink washing his face while a teammate (echoing the film’s childhood-friend vibe) asks him the same question - “Ghar ki yaad nhi ayi tujhe Jassi?”

Originally from Dhurandhar 2, the dialogue had picked up traction across social media platforms, becoming part of meme culture. It was widely used in humorous edits, reels, and everyday conversations, often adapted to different contexts.

It had even been used earlier in a humorous post by Bumrah’s wife, turning it into a running joke around the cricketer as Jassi fits perfectly as a nickname for Jasprit Bumrah.

The IPL has increasingly become more than just a cricket tournament. Over the years, it has evolved into a space where sport, entertainment, and internet culture intersect in real time.
