Following Saurabh Dwivedi’s resignation as Editor of The Lallantop and India Today (Hindi)—the India Today Group’s key digital news platforms—discussion around his next professional step has intensified. The speculation is being driven in part by his recent public appearances, which appear to signal interests beyond traditional journalism.

Social media posts and widely circulated images have shown Dwivedi interacting with several prominent figures from the film industry, including actors Tamannaah Bhatia and Fatima Sana Shaikh. He has also appeared in a cameo as a news anchor in the Hotstar web series Space Gen: Chandrayaan. Reports of his involvement in Netflix’s upcoming series Kartavya, produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, have further fueled conversations about a possible creative shift in his career.

Online reactions have been mixed. Some observers suggest Dwivedi’s recent engagements reflect a growing focus on events, celebrity interactions, and personal branding alongside journalism. Others view these appearances as part of a broader exploration of storytelling formats rather than a departure from news media.

Within media circles, there has also been discussion about The Lallantop’s evolution in recent years—from a strongly platform-led identity to one more closely associated with an individual editorial voice. Industry experts note that such transitions can sometimes create friction within large corporate media organisations, where institutional structures and editorial processes typically take precedence over personality-driven branding.

Unconfirmed reports have additionally linked Dwivedi to a possible role with the Indian Express Group’s Hindi digital operations, though neither the organisation nor Dwivedi has issued an official statement. The absence of clarity has added to ongoing speculation about his future direction.

India Today Group Vice Chairperson Kali Purie had earlier indicated that Dwivedi wished to explore new creative opportunities outside the organisation. His recent visibility across entertainment and OTT projects has therefore been interpreted by some as part of a broader professional transition, though no formal announcement has been made.

For now, Dwivedi’s next move remains unclear. What is evident, however, is that his departure from the India Today Group—after building a strong journalistic identity—has sparked wide discussion across both media circles and social platforms. As his career enters a new phase, the industry will be watching closely to see how this shift unfolds.
