Jagran New Media has promoted Urvashi Kapoor to Executive Editor and General Manager. She will continue to lead the company’s Literacy vertical.

Kapoor began her career at Dainik Jagran in September 2011 as a Senior Content Writer and worked there until September 2015. She then joined Zee Media as Senior Correspondent, where she worked from September 2015 to August 2017. She subsequently joined BW Businessworld as Senior Sub Editor.

In April 2019, Kapoor joined Jagran New Media as Chief Sub Editor. She was promoted to Associate Editor in April 2021 and took on the role of Senior Editor in September 2023. In August 2026, she was promoted to Executive Editor and General Manager.

Kapoor has led several large-scale media and AI literacy initiatives and digital literacy workshops. She has also worked with global technology and media organisations including Google, Meta and the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), with these initiatives focusing on digital empowerment, awareness around misinformation and online safety.

She also holds the copyright to one of India’s major media literacy initiatives.

She has been an East-West Center, National Press Foundation and Sunway Fellow. Kapoor has represented India as a speaker at major international conferences and workshops in Norway, South Korea, South Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, Nepal and Turkey.

Kapoor is currently also a member of the Governing Council of the Trusted Information Alliance, where she contributes to national and global discussions around AI, trust, safety and digital literacy.
