Cheil Worldwide SW Asia has announced the appointment of Nima DT Namchu as Executive Creative Director. He joins from Contract Advertising where he was Senior VP and Executive Creative Director.

Confirming the appointment, Alok Agrawal, COO, Cheil WW, SW Asia, said that the agency has been growing at a rapid pace, gaining traction both on account of new business and current client portfolio. “We have been steadily improving our creative product and the proof was the recent win at Cannes. Nima is a highly accomplished creative person and I am happy to have him on board. His joining completes the creative trilogy at Cheil India, and along with Varun and Ravi, we will be a creative force to reckon with,” he said.

Namchu has over 19 years of experience in advertising. He had started his career as a Copy Writer in 1993 with Sistas (now Saatchi & Saatchi). He then worked with agencies like TBWA Anthem, Leo Burnett, Capital Advertising, McCann, Publicis India and Contract Advertising.

He has worked on a wide range of brands, including Sony, IndianOil, LG, Maruti, Mastercard, Nescafe, Perfetti Van Melle, Virgin Atlantic, Reebok, General Motors (Optra), X-Box, Hewlett Packard, Aviva Life Insurance, and Jim Beam. More recently, he has been involved with Domino’s Pizza, Google, NIIT, SpiceJet Whirlpool, Del Monte Foods, Jaypee, Dabur and British Council, among others.

Among the laurels that have come his way, Namchu was a winner of the Silver Pencil at the One Show 2011 for a poster campaign developed for Environment People, a store that stocks fashion accessories made with jute. In 2011, he led his team to win one Silver and four Bronze trophies at GoaFest, a Gold plus two finalists at Spikes Asia, two finalists at the AdFest and two shortlists at Cannes 2011. In 2000, Namchu’s commercial that launched the Maruti 16x4 Hypertech engines was featured in ‘The World’s Greatest Commercials’, an Australian television show on advertising.
