Bluehill.VC, a frontier-tech focused venture capital firm, today announced the final close of its maiden ₹400 crore fund, including the subscription of ₹50 crore greenshoe option. The fund has attracted strong participation from institutional investors including SIDBI, the Governments of Kerala and Uttar Pradesh, alongside leading family offices, accomplished entrepreneurs and UHNIs from India and the Middle East.
The fund received interest from a broader pool of institutional and HNI investors than could be accommodated within the fund's targeted closing timeline. While the firm was unable to accommodate all commitments in the maiden fund, it expects to engage with these investors as part of the next fund, which is planned for 2027.
The successful close reflects growing conviction in India's frontier-tech opportunity. As geopolitical priorities, industrial policy and advances in science and engineering reshape global innovation, India is producing a new generation of companies building technologies that are not only commercially significant but strategically important. Bluehill.VC was founded to partner with these founders from the earliest stages and help build globally competitive technology businesses from India.
Commenting on the milestone, Manu Iyer, Managing Partner & Co-founder, Bluehill.VC, said,"For the past two decades, venture capital has largely been driven by consumer, software and internet businesses. We believe the next wave of enduring value will be created by companies solving hard engineering and scientific problems. India today has the talent, policy momentum and entrepreneurial ambition to build globally competitive businesses across defence, semiconductors, space, energy and advanced manufacturing.
The final close of our maiden fund is a strong endorsement of that belief. More importantly, it reflects the confidence our investors have placed in our ability to identify exceptional founders early and partner with them for the long term. Our ambition is simple - to help build companies from India that don't just participate in global markets, but define them."
Bluehill.VC invests from Seed to Series A in startups building proprietary technologies across Energy, EVs, Nuclear, Semiconductors, Advanced Materials, Defence, Space, Water, Manufacturing, Robotics, Industrial Technologies and IoT. The fund aims to build a concentrated portfolio of 15–16 companies, investing an average of up to $1-2 million in the first institutional round while working closely with founders through its invest-and-build approach. Since commencing investments, Bluehill.VC has already deployed ₹100+ crore across seven portfolio companies.
Commenting on the fund's investment philosophy, Sridhar Parthasarathy, Managing Partner & Co-founder, Bluehill.VC, said,"Frontier-tech investing requires a different kind of conviction. These companies take longer to build, demand deeper technical understanding and solve problems that few others are willing to tackle. But when they succeed, they create technologies that are difficult to replicate, globally competitive and capable of defining entire industries.
Our focus is on founders building from first principles, creating genuine technological breakthroughs rather than incremental improvements. We believe exceptional frontier-tech founders aren't confined to just premier institutes. They are emerging from research laboratories, manufacturing clusters, defence programs and universities across the country. We're building Bluehill to discover these founders early, back them with conviction and stay alongside them as they build globally significant companies."
Bluehill.VC has built a robust investment pipeline and plans to deploy ₹80 crore over the next six months, continuing to invest in founders developing breakthrough technologies with both strategic relevance and global commercial potential.
