Sanjiv Mehta of HUL to chair the jury for IDMA and valedictory for Techमंच 2018

Chairman and MD, Hindustan Unilever Limited | EVP, Unilever South Asia will discuss the changing role of marketing in achieving business objectives

What kind of technology will impact marketing the most? Many marketers believe artificial intelligence or machine learning will be the most transformative technology for marketers. Also, data permeates every facet of business today, even the creative aspects of the job are now driven by insights and analysis. At Techमंच Digital Conference 2018, part of the Indian Digital Marketing Conference & Awards 2018 (IDMA), top level experts will discuss how marketing teams are evolving to reflect the data-driven culture.

This year Sanjiv Mehta, Chairman and MD, Hindustan Unilever Limited | EVP, Unilever South Asia will chair the jury for IDMA and will announce the valedictory address at Techमंच. His topic of discussion would be the ‘Changing Role of Marketing In Achieving Business Objectives’. Mehta will discuss at length how new age tools and technology make marketing more precise and result driven, allowing the achievement of larger goals for an organisation.

Mehta is the Chairman & Managing Director of Hindustan Unilever Limited; he also leads Unilever’s business in South Asia as the Executive Vice President. He took over as the CEO and Managing Director of HUL in October 2013.

Mehta has been associated with Unilever for 25 years, and for the last 16 years has led businesses in different parts of the world. He has been the Chairman and Managing Director of Unilever Bangladesh Limited (2002-06), Chairman and CEO of Unilever Philippines Inc. (2007 -08) and Chairman of Unilever - North Africa & Middle East (2008 – September 2013). He is also on the South Asia Advisory Board of Harvard Business School. He is also on the Indian Advisory Boards of Enactus, HSBC’s ‘Skills for Life’ and Xynteo’s ‘India 2022’ coalition. He is the Vice President of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry and a member of the National Committees of CII and FICCI.

Born and raised in Mumbai, Mehta graduated in Commerce and pursued Chartered Accountancy. He later took up an Advance Management Program from Harvard Business School. His first job was at Union Carbide in 1983 where the Bhopal Gas Tragedy taught him the striking importance and value of safety. Even today, Mehta is known to begin his meetings by reviewing the safety agenda.
