Snapdeal tanks 7 spots on top advertiser list on TV as ecom slashes spends

According to data sourced from AdEx India (A Division on TAM Media Research) B2C-Online Shopping has dropped ad spends on television from 3.18% (Jan-Jun'15) to 2.49% this year for the same period. For all Categories (Excluding Online Shopping) for the said period there has been an increase in ad spends from 96.82% to 97.51% on television.
We take a look at how top ranking players have changed in the ecommerce space from last year to this year in terms of television ad spends, which continue to remain the biggest chunk of ad spends across sectors. The data is for the period of (Jan-Jun'15)and (Jan-Jun'16).
In 2015, Olx was the number 1 one advertiser, followed by Flipkart,Snapdeal, Quikr and Amazon, who made it to the list of top 5 ad spenders in the B2C online shopping category from January to June last year. The other the 5 players during this period were Cartrade.com, Yepme.com, Jabong.com, Shopclues.com, and Cardekho.com.

However when we look at the data for the same period for this year it throws up some surprises, the most startling one being that, Snapdeal has slipped to rank 9 from rank 3 last year.
The data also shows new entrants Pepper Fry, Myntra,Naaptol, and Big Basket during this period among the top ten.
However players like Cartrade, YepMe, Jabong, Cardekho, who were prominent in last year’s top ten have vanished from the top ten list this year. Amazon has topped the list for this period followed by Olx, Flipkart, Myntra and Naaptol.
