Google Online Shopping Festival kicks off today
The festival will see over 400 partners offering products on discount for three days till Friday

Google’s much-awaited Great Online Shopping Festival (GOSF) is all set to kick off today. To commemorate the mega event, Google will begin the sale of two new products — Chromecast and Nexus 6. The festival will see over 400 partners offering their products on discount for three days till Friday.
Nexus 6 smartphone will be available at Rs 43,999, and Chromecast will be sold at Rs 2,999. Products from other companies like Lenovo, Asian Paints, Tata Housing and Van Heusen will also see first sales at GOSF.
Google is launching new sections like exclusive launches and one for first-time buyers. The exclusive launches section would feature products in a wide range, including tech products and fashion labels. Also, there is a section which offers users a chance to win 14 minutes of free shopping hosted by brands like Asian Paints, Jet Airways, Kindle, Micromax, HP, Big Bazaar, KOOVs, Lakme and Lenovo.
According to market reports, this year, the GOSF has about 450 companies participating, almost twice as many as last year, and also has a special section offering products at Rs 299 with free shipping and cash on delivery. Most online retailers are expecting thrice as many orders during the event compared to regular days.
Tata Housing Development Company will be launching an exclusive ultra-luxury project, ‘The Cascades’ during the festival.
They have also partnered with Aditya Birla Money My Universe for their 72 hours of crazy GOSF wildcard. Promoting the concept of online shopping Google had launched the Great Online Shopping Festival (GOSF) in 2012 in India.
Even as major ecommerce players like Amazon, Snapdeal and Jabong are getting ready for the three-day GOSF, Flipkart has decided to skip this year’s festival a miss. The e-commerce company has launched yet another discount fest, Big App Sale, which started two days earlier than GOSF. While GOSF is slated to be held between December 10 and 12, Flipkart’s Big App Sale started from December 8 and goes on till December 12.
The GOSF, one of the biggest e-commerce ventures of Google, started in 2012 and has tied up with over 450 brands and e-commerce portals for offering discounts to online shoppers this year.
GOSF received huge response from their Indian consumers with the company claiming to have received 2 million viewers last year. GOSF 2013 partnered which was over 200 e-commerce websites said that their sales jumped threefold with the mega sale. Other shopping websites likes Snapdeal, Myntra, and eBay also said about their sales increasing during that period of time. However, last year saw servers crash resulting in Google having to declare an extra day of sale to keep the promise of a three-day shopping carnival for online consumers.
