AamAadmi Party (AAP) and its founder/leaderArvindKejriwal’s penchant for stirring up the hornet’s nest has probably caused him to lose favour with the Twitter jantaand seen him lose ground to both NarendraModi and Rahul Gandhi last week. Analysis of Twitter mentions and conversations seem to suggest that the crusading politician and his party (AAP) have taken a hit in popularity and positive sentiment.
To determine the rankings, politicians and political parties were allotted a Simplify360 Social Index (SSI), based on four parameters – Awareness, Spread, Prominence and Favourability.
The Simplify360 report for the week ending March 18 (March12-18, 2014) finds that Kejriwal had a total SSI score of 74, behind Modi (78) and Gandhi (76). He is also tied with Rahul Gandhi in terms of favourability last week with a score of 73. Kejriwal recorded a 5 per cent negative sentiment, the worst for any of the top three leaders, with only ArunJaitley (7 per cent) and Manmohan Singh (6 per cent) faring worse.
Interestingly, BJP still seems to attract the ire of Twitterati in general, despite the massive digital PR machinery put in place by the party and Modi’s seeming popularity. It had the least favourability score among the top three parties (AAP, Congress and BJP)as well as the least positive sentiment and the highest negative sentiment.
Other interesting results from last week’s reports include the coming back of the Twitter savvy ShashiTharoor, who has been keeping a low profile for the last few months. Tharoor was the fourth most popular politician, with a spread of 96 (in comparison, ArvindKejriwal had a spread of just 33) and a favourability score of 84 (just two points behind Modi).
BJP’s ‘#myvoteformodi’ was also the most talked about topic, reaching, at its peak, more than 100,000 mentions. For more updates, be socially connected with us on
