Sam Balsara inducted into IAA Hall of Fame at Leadership Awards
The coveted award bestowed to Balsara is reserved for someone who has not just built and run a great company, but has gone beyond the call of duty and made a significant contribution to the industry as a whole
The India Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) inducted Sam Balsara, Chairman and Managing Director, Madison World, into its Hall of Fame at the sixth edition of the IAA Leadership Awards on July 27.
An elated Balsara said, “Thank you everyone for this honour. I thought I would say that advertising has changed. But what’s new about that? Sometime ago we presented the Pitch Madison Annual Report which projected that the advertising market in India is now going to be about Rs 60,000 crores and I thought that what would it have been when I started working. I came to the conclusion that it would be not more than Rs 100 crores. My second job was at Cadbury which was supposed to be a very large company. Its turnover that time was Rs 20 crores. So yes, things do change. In Madison’s 30 years, it has changed many, many times over to survive and grow.”
The coveted award bestowed to Balsara is reserved for someone who has not just built and run a great company, but has gone beyond the call of duty and made a significant contribution to the industry as a whole. Balsara has been President of the Advertising Agencies Association of India, The Advertising Club and the IAA. He has also been Chairman Audit Bureau of Circulations and Advertising Standards Council of India.
In its sixth year now, those inducted into the IAA Hall of Fame in earlier years are Pradeep Guha, Ramesh Narayan, I Venkat, Bharat Patel and Srinivasan Swamy.
