With over two decades of experience in the media and advertising sector, Vaishali Verma stands as a trailblazer known for her transformative leadership and strategic foresight. Her journey is a remarkable testament to her ability to navigate through changing landscapes, consistently shaping industry standards and driving growth across various sectors.
Vaishali began her career as a Media Planner at Mudra Communications in 1995. Over the years, her relentless drive and keen insights into consumer behavior elevated her to senior roles at leading agencies. Her work has spanned across a wide range of categories, such as E-commerce, FMCG, Automobiles, Financial services, Lifestyle, and fashion products. These varied sectors have provided her with invaluable insights into how brands navigate the complexities of consumer expectations and media consumption patterns. She has worked with some of India’s most iconic brands, such as McDonald’s, Samsung, Nestlé, General Motors, Reckitt Benckiser, Gillette, and more, driving strategic media initiatives and brand growth.
In 1997, Vaishali joined Universal McCann as a Senior Media Planner to Media Group Head, eventually making her way to becoming the Media Director in 2002. Here, she handled the media business for TVS Motors, the largest advertiser in the Bengaluru market at that time. Her experience working in the auto category exposed her to consumer behavior in rural and small-town India. She was also involved in conceptualising and executing TVS Motors’ sponsorship of the TVS Cup International Series, marking a key moment in the intersection of media and cricket. Additionally, her work with Intel and Madura Garments expanded her expertise into technology brands and fashion, with the launch of Van Heusen’s women's wear segment and collaboration with the movie Ghajini being standout campaigns.
In 2006, she joined LodestarUM, where she was instrumental in expanding the agency’s footprint in Bengaluru. Through aggressive client acquisition and a focus on creating strategic media solutions, she led the agency to become one of the top players in the region. Her efforts in reshaping the media landscape were evident as she played a critical role in the successful launch campaigns for ING Bank, Muthoot Fincorp, and Fossil Watches, among others.
In 2013, Vaishali’s leadership extended across multiple regions when she took on the responsibility of heading both LodestarUM and Initiative for South India. Her work with clients in the technology, retail, auto, and FMCG sectors led to impactful business growth, cementing her reputation as a leader who can turn media into a powerful driver of business outcomes. With a focus on diversifying the talent pool and fostering innovation, she reshaped teams, brought fresh perspectives, and helped clients navigate the ever-changing media landscape.
Currently, as the CEO of Initiative India, Vaishali continues to push boundaries. Under her leadership, the agency has flourished, particularly in the technology and platform sectors. Her strategic vision has contributed to new business acquisition, creating a culture of innovation, inclusion, and growth. She remains passionate about making media more accountable to clients’ business objectives and empowering teams to deliver measurable outcomes at scale.
