Global music sensation Enrique Iglesias made a spectacular return to India after 13 years with a two-day, sold-out concert in Mumbai. The concert, part of Enrique’s “India Tour 2025”, marked his first show in Mumbai after 2004. The Grammy Award winner performed on October 29 and 30 at the MMRDA Grounds, Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), captivating over 25,000 fans, including several Bollywood celebrities, in what was a nostalgic and high-energy show.
A Night of Nostalgia and Pop Magic
Enrique Iglesias, best known for timeless hits like "Hero," "Bailamos," and "Escape," delivered a 90-minute set on night one that took the audience on a journey through his illustrious career. Making his Mumbai debut, the Spanish heartthrob expressed his delight to be back in the country, telling the crowd, "I've missed performing in India. The fans there are some of the most loyal and passionate in the world."
The performance was a medley of chart-toppers, with the crowd singing along to every lyric of songs like "Subeme La Radio," "Heartbeat," "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)," and the evergreen "Bailando." The electric atmosphere was palpable, with fans waving lights and banners, their energy matching the star's dynamic stage presence.
A standout moment came when a fan spontaneously tossed a phone onto the stage, which Iglesias playfully caught, snapped a selfie, and returned, much to the crowd's delight—a moment that quickly went viral. He also charmed the Indian audience by folding his hands and greeting them with a sincere "Namaste."
Star-Studded Attendance and Opening Acts
The event was a star-studded affair, with celebrities like Malaika Arora, Vidya Balan, and Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani spotted among the enthusiastic audience, dancing and soaking in the music.
Setting the stage for the pop icon were Indo-Canadian singer Jonita Gandhi and EDM sensations Progressive Brothers, who warmed up the crowds before the main act.
Logistics and Fan Feedback
While the two-day concert was a musical triumph built on nostalgia, it was not without minor logistical issues. Some attendees voiced concerns on social media regarding the traffic congestion around the BKC venue and the long wait time between the opening acts and Enrique’s main performance. Additionally, a few fans were disappointed that not all of his greatest hits were performed in full.
Despite these minor hiccups, the concert concluded on a high note, with Iglesias wrapping up with the track "Baby I Like It" amidst a spectacular fireworks display, leaving fans with a night of unforgettable memories. To facilitate smooth travel, the Mumbai Metro Line 3 extended its services until midnight on both concert days.
As the final notes faded around 11:00 PM, Enrique bid adieu with a heartfelt namaste—"Mumbai, you've been incredible. See you tomorrow for round two!" he shouted, hinting at an even bigger spectacle on night two.
This wasn't just a concert; it was a love letter to a city and its fans who have kept Enrique's flame alive through streaming playlists and viral reels. With shows lined up in Bengaluru and Delhi, his India Tour 2025 is already being hailed as a landmark in the country's booming live music scene.
