Zomato founder and Eternal Limited Vice Chairman Deepinder Goyal made a public appeal to former employees, inviting them to return to the company amid its growth and evolution.
In a post shared on X, Goyal addressed ex-employees directly, writing, “If you used to work at Zomato, whether you chose to move on, or I was the one who asked you to leave, this is for you.”
In his post, Goyal acknowledged that the company may not have provided the right environment or leadership for some people in the past, but said many former colleagues had a strong emotional connection with Zomato. He wrote: “We are more organised, a little less chaotic, and hopefully, I’ve learned a few things along the way too,”
He added that the company has evolved over time and that several former employees have already returned. “More than 400 people at Eternal are ‘boomerangs’ - people who have come back for a second (or third) stint,” he wrote.

He addressed concerns some former employees might have about rejoining due to past experiences, writing: “If you haven’t reached out because you think the door is closed, or because you think I’m holding onto the past, I’m not. I want you back.” The invitation extended to roles across the different businesses under the Eternal umbrella, including Zomato, Blinkit’s quick-commerce operations, Hyperpure, District, Nugget and Feeding India.
Goyal also commented on his own role after stepping down as CEO and Managing Director of Eternal, suggesting that formal titles were secondary to ongoing involvement. “Did titles ever matter at Eternal? I am still very much here,” he wrote.
Social media reactions
The post drew mixed reactions online. Some users welcomed the openness, while others questioned the need for a public outreach. One reply read, “This feels honest, but it also raises questions about why so many people left in the first place.” Another user commented, “Boomerang hires are common, but culture matters more than a comeback call.” A separate response noted, “Interesting move - but returning only works if things have actually changed.”
