Former Amazon Director of Communications Abhi Mahapatra has stepped into entrepreneurship with the launch of strategic communications venture AMPERA, marking the end of his long corporate communications journey.
Mahapatra shared the development through a LinkedIn post, introducing AMPERA as a strategic communications lab built to help leaders and organisations navigate high-stakes environments, evolving stakeholder expectations, and constant public scrutiny.
According to the company, AMPERA offers India’s first strategic communications audit powered by tech-led qualitative and quantitative evaluation, alongside immersive activations aimed at driving measurable impact. Joining Mahapatra in the founding team is Silky Chopra Mehrotra as Chief Operating Officer.
Mahapatra brings over two decades of experience across Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Public Policy, CSR, and Internal Communications. Over the years, he has led communications mandates across India, the Middle East, Africa, China, and the Asia Pacific region, shaping narratives for global brands and organisations.
Explaining the idea behind the venture, Mahapatra noted that AMPERA derives its name from the “ampere”, symbolising current and momentum. “It captures what we want to be for our partners and teams: energy in motion and everyday consistency in powering change,” he shared.
The firm positions itself as an integrated communications consultancy blending analytical rigour, creative intelligence, modern tools, and human insight. Our approach is input oriented and outcome-led, not output-driven. We focus on what moves people and by extension, what moves systems.
With the launch, Mahapatra joins a growing list of senior communications leaders moving into entrepreneurial ventures amid increasing demand for strategic reputation management and data-driven communication advisory services.
