Senior journalist Shawan Sen has stepped down from Republic TV after nearly a decade with the network. He is set to join CNN-News18 as Executive Editor – Enterprise & Special Investigations. Sources close to the development have confirmed this news.
 
In his new role, Sen will anchor a prime-time show as well as an afternoon programme. A weekend show focused on defence and national security is also in the works.
 
Sen joined Republic TV in 2017 and served as Deputy Editor, handling special projects. During his tenure, he contributed extensively to the network’s coverage of major national stories.
 
The move marks a return to CNN-News18 for Sen. He previously worked with CNN-IBN as Senior Correspondent from September 2012 to July 2016, covering crime, defence and intelligence agencies.
 
Before joining CNN-IBN, Sen worked as a civic reporter with The Times of India. He has also had a stint with The Indian Express. In 2016, he joined Times Network as Special Correspondent, covering defence and intelligence agencies, before moving to Republic TV in 2017.
 
With his new mandate at CNN-News18, Sen will focus on enterprise journalism, special investigations and defence and security coverage, alongside his anchoring responsibilities.
