State Bank of India (SBI) has appointed Ravi Ranjan as Managing Director.

His tenure will continue until he attains the age of superannuation on September 30, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Prior to his elevation as MD, Ranjan served as Deputy Managing Director (DMD), heading global markets for over a year, and earlier led the Corporate Accounts Group (CAG) as DMD.

In his earlier assignments, he headed the SBI Chennai Circle, covering Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, as Chief General Manager (CGM). He also served as President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) at SBICAPS, Mumbai, and led the Retail Network as General Manager in Bengaluru.

Ranjan joined SBI as a Probationary Officer in 1991 and brings over 34 years of experience across multiple domains of banking and finance. He has also undertaken two foreign assignments — in Hong Kong, handling debt syndications, and in Los Angeles, California.
