Prabhjeet Singh, former President of Uber India and South Asia, has joined OpenAI as Managing Director for India.
Singh will lead the company's consumer and enterprise business, partnerships, regulatory engagement and overall operations and will report to Kiran Mani, Managing Director for Asia Pacific.
In a LinkedIn post, Singh said, "Last week, I joined OpenAI to lead the India business. After a week in San Francisco meeting the team, I’m back home inspired about the mission and the path ahead. I love building and scaling new businesses: taking an ambitious idea, turning it into something people value, and building the teams and systems that help it reach millions. Few opportunities feel as consequential as helping shape what AI can mean for India, and what India can mean for AI".
"India has the talent, entrepreneurial energy and ambition. Few markets offer this combination of scale and possibility. But India should not only benefit from the future of AI. India should help build it. And what gets built here should shape how AI is used everywhere. That is a big part of why I joined OpenAI. OpenAI said Singh's mandate will include expanding strategic partnerships, supporting the country's AI ecosystem and accelerating the adoption of AI across businesses, institutions and the public sector.
