Omnicom Media Group India’s Chief Content Officer, Shailja Verghese, has stepped down from the organisation, coming at a time when the group is undergoing a major structural consolidation following Omnicom’s acquisition of IPG. 

Her exit, believed to be unrelated to the consolidation after the acquisition of IPG, marks one of the first senior-level movements amid the transition phase. Her next move is still under wraps.

Shailja Verghese, professionally known as Shailja Saraswati Varghese, is a senior media and content leader with nearly two decades of experience across television, digital, media and content strategy. 

She has held leadership roles at major media and entertainment organisations including ZEE5, Wavemaker SEA, National Geographic Channels, Discovery Communications, UTV Network and content agencies in the Asia-Pacific region, bringing a cross-platform storytelling expertise to performance and brand content, as per her Linkedin profile. 

Verghese joined Omnicom Media Group India in 2021 as Head of Content and later served as Chief Content Officer, where she led the consolidation of the Group’s content capabilities under a unified practice — OMG Content — serving brands across OMD, PHD and other group agencies. 

Known for blending data-driven insights with creative storytelling, Verghese has also contributed to industry thought leadership, participated on juries at festivals such as the Cannes Entertainment Festival, and served on advisory panels including the Content Marketing Summit APAC. Beyond her professional role, she is a podcast host and mindfulness trainer, reflecting a broader engagement with personal development and industry discourse.
