JioHotstar is doubling down on its ambition to build next-generation, AI-driven products by significantly expanding its senior product and engineering leadership. As part of this push, the company has brought in seasoned leaders from some of the world’s most influential technology firms to deepen capabilities across content discovery, viewer experience, marketing intelligence and core platform engineering.

The new leadership cohort draws from the DNA of large-scale consumer internet businesses such as Flipkart, Google, CRED, Razorpay and Myntra. Key additions include Shrinivas SG (Discovery & Personalisation), Naveen Prashanth (Consumer Marketing), Abhishek Sharan (Engineering – Viewer Experience), Abhishek Varshney (AdTech) and Chandru (Product Management), alongside Chandramauli Singh and Nishant Paliwal. Together, they enhance the platform’s strengths across discovery, engagement, monetisation and engineering infrastructure.

Taking charge of discovery and personalisation, Shrinivas SG brings extensive experience in designing and scaling search and discovery ecosystems. During his tenure at Flipkart, he worked across search, catalog and trends, and played a pivotal role in building GenAI-enabled conversational commerce experiences, particularly focused on vernacular, voice-first and video-led discovery.

To accelerate consumer growth and deepen engagement, Naveen Prashanth joins from Google, where he led marketing for YouTube Shorts as well as Creator and Artist initiatives in India, driving large-scale brand, performance and monetisation outcomes. Earlier in his career, he was part of McKinsey & Company, advising FMCG and B2C clients on growth and transformation strategies.

On the engineering side, Abhishek Sharan brings more than 15 years of experience scaling high-traffic consumer platforms. Prior to JioHotstar, he held senior engineering roles across the Flipkart Group and Myntra, contributing to systems spanning search, recommendations, consumer apps, advertising platforms and trust & safety. Most recently, he served as Head of Engineering at SuperMoney.

Strengthening the platform’s advertising and monetisation stack, Abhishek Varshney joins from CRED, where he spent close to five years building products across payments, commerce and financial engineering. His earlier stints include work on application platforms at Razorpay and large-scale infrastructure systems at Flipkart.

Further bolstering the leadership bench, Chandramauli Singh and Nishant Paliwal join from ShareChat and Cleartrip respectively, bringing expertise in recommendation engines, scalable platform design and engagement frameworks for mass consumer products.

In earlier leadership additions, David Zakkam had come on board to head analytics and data strategy, anchoring data-driven decision-making across the organisation. The latest set of appointments was communicated internally, underscoring JioHotstar’s sustained focus on strengthening its technology and platform foundations.

Separately, the JioStar Group recently announced the appointment of Emmy Award–winner Stephen Bugaj as Senior Vice President – GenAI Content & Technology, highlighting the network’s emphasis on intelligent content workflows, interactive storytelling and scalable creative systems.

With this expanded leadership team in place, JioHotstar is positioning itself for its next phase of growth, as streaming platforms increasingly evolve towards more adaptive, personalised and intelligence-powered user experiences.
