- Castrol India Limited has appointed Saugata Basuray as Managing Director, effective June 1, 2026, pending shareholder and statutory approvals.
- Basuray, currently the Whole-time Director and Interim CEO, has been with the company for over 26 years, starting as a Management Trainee in 1999.
- His previous roles include Executive Assistant to the Managing Director, Regional Vice President at bp, and leadership positions in sales, marketing, and business operations.
- Basuray has also led Castrol operations in the Philippines and served as Managing Director of its joint venture in Indonesia.
Castrol India Limited has announced the appointment of Saugata Basuray as its Managing Director, effective 1 June 2026, following approval by the company’s Board of Directors, according to a regulatory filing.
Basuray, who is currently serving as Whole-time Director and Interim Chief Executive Officer of the company, has been appointed for a term of five years, subject to shareholder and other statutory approvals.
He has been associated with Castrol India for over 26 years and has held several leadership positions across sales, marketing, and business operations. He joined the company as a Management Trainee in 1999.
Prior to assuming the role of Interim CEO of the company, Basuray was the Wholetime Director and Head-B2C Business.
Early in his career, he served as Executive Assistant to the Managing Director of the Company and Regional Vice President bp. In 2008, he moved to Castrol’s global head quarter in the UK.
After returning to India, he led sales for the B2B channel and later served as Head of Marketing for Castrol India. He went on to lead Castrol Philippines from 2013 to 2017 and subsequently took charge as Managing Director of Castrol’s joint venture in Indonesia.
