TV Today Network’s proposed exit from the radio business has hit a roadblock, with Creative Channel Advertising and Marketing Pvt Ltd (CCAMPL) backing out of the deal. The India Today Group company had earlier signed agreements to sell its FM radio operations under the Ishq FM brand to CCAMPL, but the proposed transaction now stands terminated.
The broadcaster had been exploring ways to divest its loss-making radio business, which comprises three FM stations in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata. In February and March this year, TV Today had informed the stock exchanges about its memorandum of understanding and subsequent agreements with CCAMPL for the sale, alongside an advertising sales agreement.
In its latest stock exchange filing, TV Today Network said, “In furtherance to our earlier intimations dated February 11, 2025, February 25, 2025, March 26, 2025 and pursuant to Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Regulations, this is to inform that Creative Channel Advertising and Marketing Private Limited (‘CCAMPL’) vide e-mail dated September 9, 2025, has communicated their inability to continue with the following agreements entered into with the Company and accordingly withdrawn from the same: Memorandum of Understanding and its addendum entered into by the Company with CCAMPL for proposed sale of FM Radio Broadcasting Operations of the Company (comprising of three FM radio stations in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata). Additionally, Advertising Sales Agreement and its addendum entered into by the Company with CCAMPL.”
“As a result, the aforesaid agreements stand terminated,” said the release.
With CCAMPL pulling out, TV Today’s plans to exit radio remain in limbo. The company, best known for its flagship television news channels Aaj Tak and India Today TV, has long struggled to turn around Ishq FM despite repositioning the network over the years.
For the quarter ended June 30, 2025, TV Today Network’s discontinued operations under radio broadcasting reported a revenue of Rs 1.25 crore, compared to Rs 2.69 crore in the March 2025 quarter and Rs 14.16 crore in the same period last year. The segment posted a loss before tax of Rs 5 lakh in Q1 FY26, against a loss of Rs 3 lakh in the March 2025 quarter and a much wider loss of Rs 3.90 crore in Q1 FY25.
