TRAI extends ALTD consultation deadline to May 11

- The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has extended the deadline for submitting comments on its Consultation Paper regarding Application-based Linear Television Distribution (ALTD) Services from May 4, 2026, to May 11, 2026.
- The deadline for counter comments has also been extended from May 18, 2026, to May 25, 2026.
- The consultation paper was initially issued on April 6, 2026, and the extensions were granted in response to stakeholder requests citing the complexity of the subject matter.
- TRAI has stated that no further requests for deadline extensions will be considered.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has extended the last date for submission of comments on its Consultation Paper on ‘Formulation of a Regulatory Framework for Application-based Linear Television Distribution (ALTD) Services (including Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST) Services)’. The deadline has been from 4th May 2026 to 11th May 2026, while the deadline for submission of counter comments has been extended from 18th May 2026 to 25th May 2026.
The consultation paper was issued on 6th April 2026.
In view of the requests received from stakeholders for extension of time for submission of comments, on the ground that the subject matter under consideration involves complex technical, operational and regulatory dimensions and required detailed examination, including international approaches and best practices, it has been decided to extend the last dates for submission of written comments and counter comments by 11 th May 2026 and 25 th May 2026 respectively. No further requests for extension would be considered.
