Senior journalist Uma Sudhir has retired from NDTV, concluding a 27-year association with the network.
Sudhir served as Executive Editor leading NDTV’s South India editorial operations. Over nearly three decades, she became one of the most recognisable faces of ground reporting from southern India, covering politics, governance, social issues and public policy developments across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Throughout her career at NDTV, Sudhir played a pivotal role in strengthening regional reportage within national television news. Her reporting consistently bridged local developments with national discourse, bringing stories from the field into mainstream conversations. Known for her on-ground journalism, she represented a generation of reporters whose credibility was built through fieldwork rather than studio-led commentary.
An award-winning journalist, Sudhir is a recipient of the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award and the Chameli Devi Jain Award for Outstanding Woman Mediaperson. Her work has been widely recognised for its focus on public-interest reporting, including coverage of elections, governance, gender issues, rural distress, environment and social justice.
