Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Saturday launch DD Arunprabha, a dedicated Doordarshan channel for Arunachal Pradesh. The launch event will be held at IG Park, Itanagar.

All set to be the 24th Doordarshan channel, DD Arunprabha will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a digital satellite news gathering unit to provide live coverage from remote locations for 24x7 telecast, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said in a statement. The playout facility and the earth stations established at DDK Itanagar will ensure seamless transmission of DD Arunprabha.

The content line-up for the channel would be a mix bag of news, travelogues, mythological shows, documentaries, magazines, tele-films, reality shows and daily programmes, the statement mentioned.

While in Arunachal Pradesh, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of a permanent campus of the Film and Television Institute (FTII) at Jollang-Rakap (Jote), Papum Pare, Arunachal Pradesh. This is the third FTII of the ministry, the first two being FTII Pune and SRFTI Kolkata. It will be the first FTII of North-East.

The project, to be constructed around 20 km from Itanagar, has an approved total estimated cost of Rs 204.32 crore. To be executed by CPWD, the institute is expected to be completed in 25 months.
