We review ratings of shows that performed well and not-so-well for Hindi GECs in week 52

Mahakumbh and Taarak Mehta push Life OK and SAB TV to the fore

In week 52 (December 21 – 27, 2014) the ratings of the last week of 2014 in the Hindi GEC universe saw only Life OK and SAB TV post some growth in ratings while others saw a decline. According to data sourced from TAM subscribers week 52 for leader Star Plus saw its ratings drop to 569 million GVTs from 637 million GVTs in week 51 (December 14 – 20, 2014). Top shows such as Diya Aur Baati Hum, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and Saath Nibhana Saathiya has all seen a decline in their ratings to 10.1, 9.4, 8.2 and 8.0 TVTs in week 52 respectively from 11.8, 10.2, 9.3 and 8.4 TVTs in week 51 respectively. Everest too suffered a loss as it declined from 3.6 TVTs in week 51 to 3.1 TVTs in week 52.

Colors too took a small dip in its ratings from 500 million GVTs in week 51 to 492 million GVTs in week 52. The channels top shows such as Sasural Simar Ka and Comedy Nights with Kapil saw a dip in their ratings to 6.8 and 5.5 TVTs in week 52 from 7.0 and 6.4 TVTs in week 51 respectively. The channels top show Udaan stayed put at 7.0 TVTs from last week. Bigg Boss 8 saw an increase in its ratings this week to 5.7 TVTs from 5.4 TVTs in week 51.

Zee TV in week 52 saw its ratings slide to 427 million GVTs in week 52 and 474 million GVTs in week 51. Top shows such as Kumkum Bhagya and Jamai Raja took a slight dip in their ratings in the current week. While Kumkum Bhagya declined to 9.0 TVTs in week 52 from 9.9 TVTs in week 51, Jamai Raja declined to 6.7 TVTs in week 52 from 9.9 TVTs in week 51. Jodha Akbar’s ratings stayed the same at 6.8 TVTs since last week. Maharakshak Aryan ratings dipped marginally this week to 2.1 TVTs from 2.2 TVTs last week.

Life OK saw its ratings increase marginally to 329 million GVTs from 327 million GVTs last week. New show Mahakumbh which began last week is the channels top show and has had a stellar start scoring 3.4 TVTs last week on its launch. It however dipped this week to 3.2 TVTs. While Comedy Classes dipped marginally this week to 2.7 TVTs from 2.9 TVTs last week, Shapath has gained major ratings since last week and increased to 2.5 TVTs this week from 1.8 TVTs last week. Savdhan India also saw a rise in ratings to 2.7 TVTs from 2.3 TVTs in week 51.

SAB TV increased the most this week to 320 million GVTs in week 52 from 310 million GVTs in week 51. Top running show for the channel Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma gained the most as it rose to 8.0 TVTs this week from 7.0 TVTs last week. Other top shows such as Balveer, Chidya Ghar and Bade Door se Aaye Hai saw increase in their ratings to 3.2, 3.1 and 2.5 TVTs respectively from 3.0, 2.6 and 2.4 TVTs respectively.

Sony Entertainment Television (SET) on the other hand suffered a minor loss and declined to 237 million GVTs from 240 million GVTs last week. CID and Adaalat declined marginally to 3.4 and 2.4 TVTs in week 52 from 3.8 and 2.5 TVTs in week 52 respectively. Box Cricket League that launched last week scored 1.1 TVTs in week 51. This week it dropped marginally to 1.0 TVTs. Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar declined marginally to 1.8 TVTs from 1.9 TVTs last week.
