Jaya TV to foray into news and music genre, to launch two new channels

Tamil entertainment channel Jaya TV will be launching a 24-hour news and infotainment channel, Jaya Plus, shortly. The channel would be offering news and news based programmes round the clock. Jaya TV would be also launching a 24-hour music channel, Jaya Max, around the same time. The channel has already begun the test run.

Jaya TV to foray into news and music genre, to launch two new channels

Tamil entertainment channel Jaya TV will be launching a 24-hour news and infotainment channel, Jaya Plus, shortly. The channel would be offering news and news based programmes round the clock. Jaya TV would be also launching a 24-hour music channel, Jaya Max, around the same time, revealed Murali Raaman, Vice-president, Programmes and Operations, Jaya TV. The channel has already begun the test run.

With the launch of Jaya Plus, the news bulletins on Jaya TV will come down from the present eight bulletins to three. The new channel will give priority to local and regional news. The programming content will include district round-ups, news about Tamil Nadu, as well as national and international news shows.

Besides news, the channel will also have talk shows, panel discussions and a lot of infotainment programmes. Jaya TV has already set up bureaus for the new channel in the four metros, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Jaya Plus would attempt to cater to all segments, breaking away from the current trend of only a certain group of audience, said K P Sunil, In-charge, Jaya Plus, and current Vice-president, News, Jaya TV.

The only other Tamil channel offering news is Sun News from the Sun TV Group.
