Oh, Bhaskar! I thought you were on the mend, till I got an SOS from your son saying that if you want to say your final goodbye to him, the time to do so was now.

What can I say about Bhaskar? He was erudite, once you engaged him in any serious or semi-serious subject. He was well educated, and his education continued up to his last day. He was knowledgeable, sophisticated, cultured, enlightened and esoteric.

He was warm, social, adorable and an all-out people's person. I am sure there was not a single person he disagreed with. Or even if he did, he did so in a most agreeable way. The true mark of a cultured man.

I want to thank Somshukla and Uditvanu for allowing us to wish him our final goodbye. Not many people I know would be able to do that.

It was a pleasure and a privilege to call you a friend over the last 40 years.

Rest in peace, Bhaskar.
