In his first interview to Indian Television in nearly two decades, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke on a host of issues with India Today and AajTak. The interview was recorded in Moscow's historic Ekaterina Hall, where Putin holds meetings of his National Council and honors public figures.

Putin also interacted openly with the team in an informal conversation after the interview, which included India Today Group Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Aroon Purie and India Today Group Executive Editor-in-Chief Kalli Purie.

India Today Group journalists Anjana Om Kashyap and Geeta Mohan spoke to Putin on a vast range of issues. According to the two journalists, it was a "global-level interview" that revealed Putin's views on not only India-Russia relations but also the world and global issues.

During the interview, Putin spoke candidly about his 25-year reign, the changing landscape of Russia and the world, Ukraine, and other international issues. Journalists noted that Putin, often portrayed in Western media as a serious or stern leader, was very humble, and full of humor in the interview.
