The private FM industry has written to the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar, seeking an immediate relief package of Rs 300 crore. Without assistance from the government, the radio industry may incur a loss of Rs 600 crore by September this year.

AROI President Anurradha Prasad wrote that the economic package is crucial to keep the industry alive in the coming months.

She also expressed her disappointment at the economic packages announced by the finance ministry, which according to her has no effect on the private FM radio industry.

This is the third time the industry has written to the government, seeking bailout packages.

The radio body had sought help from the government to address critical issues like decreased spending and outstanding dues.

In a letter dated April 24, AROI had penned a letter to the PM, addressing the financial burden caused by the drop in ad revenue.
